The professionals associated with the Mineral Information and Development Centre (MIDC) have special expertise in the field of the bauxite-alumina. During 2002 to 2006, MIDC compiled and prepared several reports and presented papers on bauxite-alumina industry of India and assisted in setting up analytical laboratories in the country. MIDC was also associated in organizing ICSOBA Aluminium symposiums in India during 2005 in Nagpur and 2008 in Bhubaneshwar. During 2007, MIDC signed a contract with BHP-Billiton and entered into an agreement with Billiton Aluminium Australia to evaluate worldwide bauxite deposits and mines. The key person of MIDC was involved in the feasibility study report of Guinea alumina refinery under the banner of Guinea Alumina Corporation (GAC). Further, the representative of MIDC was involved in the Geo-metallurgical study of Boddington bauxite mine and Worsley Alumina refinery of Australia.
During 2012, professionals of MIDC had set up International Bauxite, Alumina & Aluminium Society (IBAAS) and registered this in India. During 2012 to 2020, IBAAS organized series of International conferences and exhibitions in India, China and Guinea. Director, MIDC is involved in organizing these technical events and editing of papers and presentations of International IBAAS conferences. Director of Mineral Information & Development Centre had also completed 2 assignments of International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) / IGF-OECD in Jamaica (2019) and Guinea (2020) on valuation and taxation aspects of their bauxite mining industry. |
After the completion of Billiton Aluminium Australia contract, professionals of MIDC had started a worldwide consultancy in the field of bauxite-alumina. Provided geological & metallurgical consultancy to Rio Tinto, Alufer Mining, Axis Minerals, AGB2A, Dynamic Mining and Sierra Minerals Holding/VIMETCO in their bauxite-alumina projects. Also involved in setting up a small alumina refinery in Sierra leone. In the recent past worked for VEDANTA Aluminium, GAC-EGA, Ma'aden and scores of bauxite exploration and mining companies as a consultant. MIDC is continuing to provide consultancy to SMHL/Vimetco, AGB2A, Canyon Resources and other bauxite-alumina companies.
